Somatic Therapy

 

Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to healing that recognizes the deep connection between your mind, emotions, and physical body. When we experience stress, trauma, or emotional overwhelm, our bodies often hold on to those experiences—even long after the event has passed. Somatic therapy helps you gently reconnect with your body, tune in to its signals, and release what’s been stored inside.


Rather than focusing only on talking through issues, somatic therapy invites in awareness of your physical sensations, breath, posture, and movement. This process supports you in accessing and processing emotions that may not yet have words, allowing healing to happen on a deeper level.

What you can expect from Somatic Therapy

  • A slower, grounded pace
    Somatic therapy doesn’t rush. It gives your nervous system time to feel safe, seen, and settled. We slow things down so you can notice what’s happening in your body and respond with care—not urgency. This helps build a sense of internal safety and self-trust. 


  • Listening to the body, not just words
    While we may talk, we’ll also pay attention to what your body is communicating. This could be a tight jaw, a racing heart, or a sudden sense of heaviness. These sensations often hold important emotional information—even when you’re not fully aware of it yet. 


  • Breath and body awareness
    You’ll learn simple tools to notice your breath, posture, and muscle tension. This helps you reconnect with your body in a non-judgmental way. Over time, you’ll become more attuned to when your body feels calm, when it feels stressed, and what it needs to feel regulated. 


  • Choice and consent every step of the way
    You are always in control. If something doesn’t feel right or feels too intense, we’ll pause. Somatic therapy is built on creating safety and honoring your boundaries. We go at your pace—nothing is forced or rushed. 


  • Nervous system regulation tools
    You’ll learn techniques to calm and support your nervous system in daily life—whether it’s through grounding, orienting, breathing, or gentle movement. These practices can help you feel steadier and more resilient, even during stressful moments. 


  • A return to wholeness
    Over time, somatic therapy helps many people feel more alive, present, and connected to themselves. You might notice more ease in your body, clearer boundaries, a stronger sense of self, and a deeper ability to experience joy, rest, and trust.
